• 2. Problem description

When LVP 603 access in HDMI signal, on some occasions，video image display normal on LED screen, but there's no audio output, even the notebooks that have built-in audio output

• 3. Cause analysis and solution

Since HDMI 1.0 standard released by the HDMI Association in 2002 and HDMI 1.4a in 2010, the HDMI standard has developed rapidly, with more advanced functions and wider coverage. There are many devices with HDMI interface, and some manufacturers has it’s unique design. In addition, devices with different production times coexist, so compatibility problems are inevitable. When it comes to PC, though early PC graphics cards were equipped with HDMI interfaces, but they didn’t have audio decoding capability. In another word, the HDMI with integrated audio is valid on AMD Mobility HD 5000/NVIDIA GeForce GT 500M graphics card and higher.

1） Used low version graphics card that have no audio integration. In this case, need to connect external audio from PC audio card to LVP 603 audio input or directly to audio amplifier.

2） If the graphics card is enabled with audio output capability, need to check whether the system settings are correct, including whether the default audio playback device is HDMI digital output and sound volume is appropriate. The following are the detailed operation steps.

Win7 or Vista system:

a.   Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Playback Devices"

b.  Set "Digital Audio (HDMI)" to default

c.  Left-click the speaker icon on the taskbar to check whether the HDMI digital audio output is muted or the volume is at low level

Win XP system

a． Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Playback Device", select Adjust Audio Properties, and select the default sound playback device as ATI(NVDIA) HD Audio output. If there is no such option, please try tightening the HDMI cable or change for another HDMI cable. Restart the computer after confirm that the current audio device is HDMI

b． Double left click the speaker icon in the taskbar to open the volume control, check whether the HDMI digital audio output is muted or the volume is at low level
